When I got the opportunity to photograph the Puller Races in Josefov, I had no idea how much this day would bring me.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank Nikola Grulichová for the invitation and the impeccable organization of the entire event. Thanks to her, I spent the day among passionate dog lovers and their four-legged companions—and had the chance to try something completely new.

Photographing such an event is an entirely different experience compared to traditional portraits. During the "running" segment, it's not just the dog moving quickly; your camera has to keep up, too. Everything hinges on capturing the perfect moment when the dog is sprinting, full of energy and enthusiasm. You have to stay alert, anticipate movement, and be ready for unexpected moments. It made me realize how essential it is to have an eye for detail and quick reflexes.

A Special Touch: The Autumn Photo Booth

In addition to photographing the "running" action, I set up an improvised photo booth for participants. We took three autumn-themed shots: static portraits in the leaves, dynamic runs through the foliage, and playful photos with pumpkins.

Learning and Growing as a Photographer

This event taught me the importance of versatility and embracing new challenges. Shooting the Puller Races gave me valuable experience in capturing dynamic action shots and introduced me to new techniques I can apply to future projects. I left with a sense of joy from the beautiful moments I captured and the knowledge that my work brought happiness to others.
